Movie Review "Alone(2007)"

     1.Identify the character that you believe played significant role influencing the plot and justify why and how?

Alone is horror movie that tell us about a twin, Pim and Ploy who is conjoined at their stomach. Pim is sweet and protective of Ploy as for Ploy, she is harsh and jealous. In this movie, character that I think played a significant role that influencing the movie is Pim itself. I am saying like this because Ploy made us, audiences believe that, the one who is dead is Ploy and the one is live is Pim. However, it turns out the one who is dead is Pim and the one who is live Ploy where she live in Pim’s identity in order to being love by Wee, a boy who they meet at the hospital. As you can see in this movie, Wee only set his eyes toward Pim and this make Ploy feel furious and jealous because Ploy also love Wee. Because of their love, it leads Ploy to kill Pim by strangled her to dead and since then she be living as Pim not Ploy anymore. On the other hand, it also makes their mom never speak to her again. In addition, Ploy also kill her mom in order to keep her secret from Wee but it turn out that her mom already tell Wee about Pim’s dead.

     2.What do you think is the main topic/issue highlighted in this movie? And what the writer belief?

I think the main topic/issue highlighted in this movie is revenge and love. I am saying like this because you can see from this movie that the twin mother loves her twin daughter equally and never differentiate them. Their mother also can accept their laciness by loving until they will never feel different other kids. Similarly about Pim, she really loves Ploy so much and willing to do anything for her. In this movie we can see that when they was little Ploy does not like to eat medicine even though she was sick but for love Pim willing to eat it for Ploy. In addition, Wee love Pim so much and he willing to do anything for Pim. As for revenge, we know that Pim’s spirit never feel calm because what happened between them. When they come back to her mum house, Pim can see Ploy shadow at their house where she start to see weird things in their house. At first, Wee think that Pim only tired where it lead feel weird around her mom house until he see by himself when Pim at their room where he saw someone hug her from behind but they are no one there. As for the writer belief, the writer might believe that by this story it can give the audience oral values by stated that not all of things can belong to us. The writer belief that love between families can got everyone together.

  

       3. Justify what you believe about the above topic/issue.

For love, we can see from the Pim really loves Ploy so much and willing to do anything for her. In this movie we can see that when they was little Ploy does not like to eat medicine even though she was sick but for love Pim willing to eat it for Ploy even though she is not sick so that Ploy can immediately recover from her sickness. In the same way, Ploy also loves Pim and she will protect Pim when someone hurt Pim’s feeling. As for revenge, we know that Pim’s spirit never feel calm because what happened between them. When they come back to her mum house, Pim can see Ploy shadow at their house and she start to see weird things in their house. At first when Pim try to sleep, she saw Ploy at her bed and since then Ploy will always lingering around Pim.

        4. What is your opinion about this movie?

In my opinion, this movie is good for us to watch. I suggest because this movie have so many element like shocking, unexpected, love and horror. Besides, this movie also wins so many awards after it release. This movie also teaches us that not all things in this world could belong to us.
